Vintage T-shirts news: Frusciante confirms Chili Peppers departure

Guitarist John Frusciante has revealed that he parted company with the Red Hot Chili Peppers over a year ago.

The musician's departure was not made public at the time because the Californian rock band were on "an indefinite hiatus", he confirmed in a blog post on his personal website.

Frusciante explained: "There was no drama or anger involved and the other guys were very understanding.

"To put it simply, my musical interests have led me in a different direction."

The 39-year-old has left the Chili Peppers once before, having departed in 1992 before rejoining the group seven years later to help write the songs for Californication.

Albums such as Blood Sugar Sex Magick, One Hot Minute and By the Way have won the band fans all over the world and seen their logo feature on a variety of vintage T-shirt designs.

Frusciante released his tenth solo album, The Empyrean, in January this year.
