Slash congratulates the Potters

21/04/2011

Former Guns'n'Roses guitarist Slash has congratulated his former hometown of Stoke-on-Trent on seeing its football team reach the final of the FA Cup.

The axeman - real name Saul Hudson - was born in London and has spent much of his life in the US, but lived in the Staffordshire city until he was 11 years old.

It seems that the musician has a love for the area, since he used his Twitter feed to offer his congratulations to Stoke for getting into the final of the footballing competition.

"I got up to find that the satellite channel the match was on I don't subscribe to! But I hear Stoke won 5/zip! Congrats Stoke City!" Slash tweeted.

The Premier League side destroyed fellow top-flight club Bolton Wanderers 5-0 to progress to the final stage of the tournament, in which they will play Manchester City on May 14th.

Slash confirmed he will definitely be playing in Stoke in July, which may inspire some fans to pick up a retro t-shirt from 8ball.co.uk to wear to the gig.
