Thundercats to return to TV screens

Children of the '80s may be pleased to hear that Thundercats will be returning to TV screens soon in a new miniseries.

A trailer for the show was shown at WonderCon 2011 over the weekend and the show will air on the Cartoon Network in summer 2011, bringing all the characters from more than 20 years ago back to life for a new audience.

The series is being produced by the same people as Batman: The Brave and the Bold, so fans are sure to be expecting great things.

Larry Kenney, the voice of Lion-O in the original cartoons, will be back for the 2011 incarnation, but he will play Claudus.

Thundercats debuted in 1985 and ran for four series before ending in 1990. There was also a movie called Thundercats - Ho!, although rumours of a sequel have continued to rumble ever since.

It told the story of a group of part human, part cat aliens who are forced to flee from their home planet Thundera, but are chased by their enemies.
