Dig out your band T-shirts for the return of The Libertines

30/03/2010

While you may have banished some band T-shirts to the back of the wardrobe, it might be wise to dig out your The Libertines paraphernalia, as the band have announced they are re-forming.

The group that thrust Pete Doherty into the limelight are set to come together again for the Reading and Leeds Festival in August, with the reunion thought to be earning the band a staggering £1.5 million.

"I just hope Pete turns up. Most people believed that The Libertines had at least one more great album in them so the fans will be hoping that they head back to the studio," a member of the band told the First Post.

Doherty first formed the iconic indie group alongside Carl Barat in 1997 but after two albums, Barat kicked his fellow frontman out of the band in 2004.

Barat went on to form Dirty, Pretty Things with other former members of The Libertines, while Doherty produced two albums with his new group Babyshambles.
