An average of almost ten million Britons tuned into ITV last night (April 15th) to watch the leaders of the three main political parties go head-to-head in a live debate.
Official figures show that, at its peak, the showdown between Gordon Brown, Nick Clegg and David Cameron was seen by 9.9 million viewers.
With the first of the three debates now over, voters may be running out of time to buy a political T-shirt to show their allegiance to one of the men.
The next debate will be broadcast on Sky, followed by another on the BBC prior to the general election date of May 6th.
Last night, the Labour, Liberal Democrat and Conservative figureheads clashed on topics including immigration and taxes, with the upcoming programmes due to focus on foreign policy and the economy.
The lowest viewing figures were recorded at the start of the debate - when 8.8 million were watching - and ended at 22:00 BST with 9.4 million.
