Alan Partridge could be making his debut on the silver screen if all goes to plan, according to his creator.
Speaking to the BBC, Steve Coogan said that he expects the decision about whether or not to make an Alan Partridge movie to be taken in the next month.
"You have to get all the right elements," he told the broadcaster, adding: "We're not going to do it unless we think we can do something really good."
And what are the right elements for Alan Partridge? According to Coogan, it means getting writers Armando Iannucci and Peter Baynham on board.
Coogan's bumbling radio presenter has spawned a number of funny T-shirts and it's likely that any film will add to the collection.
Before finding fame on his own shows Knowing Me, Knowing You and I'm Alan Partridge, the character appeared on BBC Radio 4's On The Hour before joining forces with Chris Morris for The Day Today.
Morris recently released his movie debut, Four Lions, a dark comedy about a group of suicide bombers in Britain.
Fans of Alan Partridge will no doubt be hoping that it all comes together to allow the socially inept DJ to shock and entertain audiences around the world.
Doctor Who will have a special guest star this week - actress Meera Syal.
The final Doctor Who episode to feature David Tennant was seen by over ten million viewers.
