With a new actor installed in the guise of Dr Who, it's only natural that there would be some new names on the writers' list too.
Author of Stardust and Coraline Neil Gaiman has announced that he's signed up to pen one episode of the iconic sci-fi series.
He made the revelation at the SFX awards ceremony this weekend, where he won the prize for best comic for his Batman story Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?
Gaiman is a self-confessed Dr Who fanatic, who probably has a retro Tshirt or two hiding in his closet somewhere.
During his acceptance speech he said: "While I know it's cruel to make you wait for things, in about 14 months from now [...] it's quite possible that I might have written an episode."
He added that it's not for the latest series but for the one after that and was originally called House of Nothing.
New Year's Day saw David Tenant relinquish his role as the Time Lord to Matt Smith, with the first episode of the new series due to hit screens this spring.
Matt Smith will face competition from Sherlock Holmes in the best actor category at the TV Baftas.
Oscars co-producer Adam Shankman revealed that Sacha Baron Cohen was the first choice to host the awards show.
Craig Bierko and Chris Diamantopoulos will star in the reboot of the classic comedy trio.
