Dig out Jack Bauer T-shirts to mourn the end of 24

Now might be the time for all fans of popular TV show 24 to dig out their Jack Bauer T-shirts, as it has been announced that the current series is set to be the last.

The US Fox network announced on Friday (March 26th) that the eighth season finale will mark the end of crime-fighting agent Jack Bauer's small screen action.

Kiefer Sutherland, who plays the character, said: "When all is said and done, it is the loyal worldwide fan base that made it possible for me to have the experience of playing the role of Jack Bauer, and for that I am eternally grateful."

However, fans may wish to get their Jack Bauer T-shirts at the ready, as Sutherland has promised that the show will end on a high note.

The action-packed drama first burst onto our screens in November 2001 and quickly became popular with people all over the world.

Using a real-time format, each of the 24 episodes of every series covers an hour in the life of anti-terrorism agent Bauer.
