Ray Davies and Mick Avory have confirmed that the Kinks will be releasing a new album of previously unheard tracks.
Fans of the band, who officially split in 1996 after brothers Ray and Dave fell out, will no doubt be excited by the news of not only a new album but also of new tracks from the brothers, who are said to be working together on the project.
In an interview with TheRockRadio.com, Ray said that he's "hopeful" his younger brother will get involved with the album.
Anyone who's curious about how it's going to work - and wondering whether it's worth dragging those Kinks Tee shirts out of the closet - may be interested in Ray's explanation of the project.
"We found some great material already recorded. It spans the late 70s through to the early 90s - as well as the newer songs that we're sort of thinking of recording."
Mick Avory confirmed the plans at the launch of the London Legends Rock Masterclasses.
Speaking to Spinner magazine, Avory revealed that Dave's involvement is key and said that the album will "go nowhere" until he comes on board.
Keep your eyes open for further updates on the ongoing saga.
