Your friendly neighbourhood graffiti artist Banksy releases new art to support the Coloston Four in his home city of Bristol
The infamous Bristolian “guerilla artist” posted pictures on his instagram of the limited addition grey t shirt showing the empty plinth with the words Bristol above which is in support for the Colston Four
Although Banksy‘s yet to claim the work, experts reckon that there’s no doubt who’s behind the new design.
Vince John from the Bristol based 1loveart gallery said “From what I can see it certainly looks like a Banksy… it’s certainly in his style and has the supporting cast of characters that you’d expect from one of his pieces”.
Bansky said proceeds from the t shirt sale will be given to the colston four people facing trial next week in the city accused of criminal damage “so they can go for a pint”.
The bronze memorial to the 17th-century slave merchant was pulled down during a Black Lives Matter protest on 7 June 2021, before being dumped in Bristol Harbour and later recovered by Bristol city council.
“For those who are interested, our website gives a glimpse of what modern-day intelligence operatives are really like, although some may be disappointed by the lack of trench coats and dark glasses.”
