As Shane Meadows’ infamous ‘This is England’ series came to an end with an emotionally charged feature length finale, we were watching with a warm smile as here at 8Ball we were privileged to have helped transform Lol into the blushing bride.
You may have read how we helped to keep the series looking authentic by working closely with our production company, The Treatment DTG.
Shortly after we produced two t shirts for the characters, Flip and Higgy, the designers of the show asked to see what else we could do.
Having recently produced a number of delicate chiffon prints for another client, the This is England ‘90 costume designer called up on us to work with an illustrator to create a tattoo effect design and different tonal birds to be printed onto a chiffon lace.
This was to create the central torso and back piece of a wedding dress worn by Vicky McClure for the wedding ceremony of the two central characters, Lol & Woody. We also created arm pieces and hundreds of chiffon bird ‘tattoos’ to be individually sewn into the fabric of the wedding dress.
