Is Peter Mayhew set to follow Hamill, Fisher and Ford by appearing in Star Wars Episode VII?

According to reports by The Hollywood Reporter everyone’s favourite Wookiee will be seen on screen in the next instalment in the Star Wars saga.

Although actual details of the main cast are yet to be confirmed it is thought that Peter Mayhew will join Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in reprising their roles from the original trilogy.

A busy man on the convention circuit, the initial rumours surrounding Mayhew’s appearance in the next film started after he pulled out of next month’s Comicpalooza in Texas “due to filming”.  And with the shoot for Episode VII  having already started last week fans put two and two together to make a Wookiee cameo.

On the topic of the main cast Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn said on April 2nd that “We have a lot of them [in place]… we’re just not completely done yet”, so hopefully there will be some official news coming soon.

Star Wars Episode VII is due to be released on December 18th 2015 and is set to pick up around 30 years from the end of Return of the Jedi.
