Becoming a Business for Good with B1G1

8Ball T-shirts has always been about getting the T-Shirt you really want but we’re also on a mission to give back to those in need. If you are a long time follower of ours you know that in between designing the best shirts and discussing top movies, we have also engaged in many charitable endeavors. Such as when we recently donated and helped distribute over 500 shirts to refugees in Birmingham.
 
While these efforts helped a lot of people, we wanted to find a way to do more and get our customers involved in the process. Thankfully we found the amazing organisation called Buy1Give1 (B1G1), a global giving community that has truly helped us in becoming a Business for Good.
 
Who are B1G1?

 
In 2007 a group of small business owners got together to ponder a simple question.  “What would happen if we all gave back just by doing the things we do every day?” The answer was obvious, they could help to make the world a better place. With that in mind B1G1 was born and just three years later everything was in place to help small businesses support many worthwhile causes in confidence.
 
Today over 1,600 organisations worldwide are subscribed to B1G1 and have created over 98m impacts that support some of the most vulnerable and poor people in the world.
 
How does it work?

 
B1G1 is all about using the power of small. By allowing lots of small business to give lots of small amounts they can combine to make huge impacts on their chosen charities. This allows companies to support their causes constantly and effectively without any detriment to their operations or their customers.
 
By providing the necessary tools to their Business for Good partners, the process is simplified massively. It's easy for a company to determine which cause they are backing and how much they will provide. B1G1 then ensures that 100% of the donated money gets to the charities they are intended for and information on the causes gets back to the company.
 
How is 8Ball involved?

 
We have always been involved in giving back at 8Ball and always been looking at ways to improve how we do this. It's been one of the driving passions of 8Ball founder Richard Flanagan since the business was first set up.
 
Everything fell into place when Richard and his wife Kerry had a chance encounter with the legendary Paul Dunn, CEO of B1G1. This led to them thinking not only about how to give bigger but how to give smarter. It wasn't long until 8Ball signed up to become a lifelong partner.

Since then we have rolled out B1G1 giving on our webside and now, each time a customer buys a t-shirt from us, we're making a positive impact somewhere in the world. This month we're providing a child in Cambodia with education for a day for Every shirt sold. We chose this project because education is a subject close to our hearts. We believe every child should have the right to a free education and by supporting this project in Cambodia, we are doing our bit to give children a positive future.
