The Greatest Animated Movies of All Time

From that little cottage in the middle of the forest occupied by seven small men to the castle made of ice built by a woman who struggles to let it go, animated movies have played a major part in our lives for almost 90 years. Growing up every child had a favourite animated movie, it was part of growing up. For 70 minutes plus we would sit there and enter the bright, colourful world of our favourite characters and heroes. Animation is the only movie genre that could possibly bring us a balloon powered flying house, a bunny rabbit slasher movie, a donkey and an ogre bromance, psychic Japanese teens and a loveable creature called Totoro and receive Oscar nominations. The growth of mainstream animation has changed the entertainment world as we know it. A genre that was once aimed to keep children distracted while adults kept busy has blossomed into a genre with no key demographic. Just take a look at the biggest animated movie of 2016, a movie based around the lives of some of our lunch time favourites. It is a raunchy outing that more than warrants its 15 rating and offers more than food for thought for its viewers.

So we are taking a look at the greatest animated movies of all time. From the influential and character building children’s classics to the wonderful world of anime we have compiled the only list to be a flesh and blood free zone. Whether these are the movies that will make you want to laugh, cry, scream or think we can guarantee that you will be scouring Netflix and dusting off your DVDs as these are the films that you will want to watch again and again.
